George Simion calls for annulment of elections: «the Romanian people have been betrayed»

George Simion, Romania’s presidential candidate and vice-president of the ECR, has filed a formal appeal with the Constitutional Court calling for the annulment of the May 2025 presidential elections. This is not a symbolic gesture, nor a routine electoral challenge. It is a disruptive political and civic act, backed by more than 5.3 million votes and by a growing popular movement demanding transparency, justice, and respect for national sovereignty.

In his appeal, Simion denounces a coordinated operation of foreign interference by both state and non-state actors—particularly France and Moldova—who allegedly manipulated the democratic process, influenced institutions, and steered media narratives to manufacture a predetermined outcome. In support of his claims, he presents what he calls «irrefutable evidence».

But it is not only documents that speak in this case. What makes noise is, above all, an image: the one published by Renew Europe—the European group tied to Emmanuel Macron—right after the first round. It shows a map of Romania colored with the EU flag, clasped between two hands painted in the French tricolor. A gesture which, whatever the intentions, tastes like a takeover. It is the perfect—and disturbing—symbol of what Simion has been denouncing for months.

The appeal does not stop there. Simion has turned protest into participation by publishing a downloadable form that allows every Romanian citizen to submit an individual appeal to the Court. It’s an invitation to speak up, to not suffer passively, and to become part of a movement that demands the right to truth.

And then, perhaps the most sensational development: Telegram founder Pavel Durov sent an official message to all users of the platform, warning of attempts to manipulate Romania’s elections. It was an unprecedented move from an entrepreneur known for his privacy and distance from politics. Simion has asked that Durov be summoned to testify before the Court about what he knows. Should that happen, the scope of this scandal would expand to continental proportions, confirming the involvement of international networks in rigging the vote of a sovereign EU member state.

And here, we say it clearly and proudly: we at La Voce del Patriota were the first in Italy—on election day itself—to report Pavel Durov’s message. While the mainstream media ignored, minimized, or even mocked the situation, we were already on the ground, documenting events and telling the truth, without filters and without masters.

We were also among the first to say that these elections would be decisive not only for Romania, but for the future of Europe. We went to Bucharest to follow George Simion’s campaign, to look the Romanian people in the eye, to tell the story of a battle for freedom that few had the courage to name. And we’ll be back—count on it.

But the dynamic we are witnessing is not new. It’s a well-tested pattern, replicated with chilling cynicism: elections are held, and the «wrong» candidate wins—the one who doesn’t fit, who can’t be controlled, who doesn’t serve the globalist narrative. Then, the machine kicks in: validation agencies, claims of «foreign interference», media blitzes crafted ad hoc, and if needed—election annulment. A new vote is held, in an already poisoned atmosphere. The goal? To demoralize the system’s opponents, push them to abstain, make their previous vote feel «guilty» or futile. Meanwhile, supporters of the establishment-backed candidate feel validated and mobilized. They turn out in greater numbers, and bring new voters «to stop fascism». Thus, the result of the first—and legitimate—election is reversed. On the surface, democracy remains. But in truth, it becomes a mechanism to impose predetermined outcomes. Abstention becomes the elite’s ultimate weapon to control a process that is democratic in appearance only. And in the end, the rulers get to say: «You decided».

Simion is no ordinary politician. He has no lobbyists behind him, no foreign financiers. He comes from the people, speaks plainly, and has made consistency his political trademark. He admires leaders like Giorgia Meloni and Donald Trump, and like them, he dreams of a Europe made of sovereign nations—not unelected bureaucrats. His vision, embodied in the MEGA project—Make Europe Great Again—is not nostalgia. It is revolution. A democratic, identity-based, people-powered revolution.

«We will not give up. We will not betray. This is not the end—it is the beginning of a great national awakening», Simion declared at the end of his press conference. His words are not slogans. They are stones. The foundation upon which millions are building a new political consciousness. We will continue to tell this story. Because democracy is either transparent or it is fake. Because sovereignty is either defended or surrendered. And because—as we have said from the very beginning—what happens in Romania concerns all of us. This is not just a political battle. It is a battle for truth.
