Romania. George Simion enters the race with clear ideas: ‘We want to eliminate the woke ideology by putting the family back at the centre. Italy is a model to follow to rebuild the West’.

George Simion, the conservative candidate running for president in Romania, talks to The Voice of the Patriot, who flew to Cluj Napoca these days to sound out the terrendo before the official start of the Romanian election campaign.
What only a short while ago seemed like utopia is now reality. The AUR leader has already started his intensive work to achieve victory, in and out of the squares. The key to his success lies not only in his convincing ideas, but also in his ability to communicate them in a direct, clear and true manner, reaching an ever wider audience through a skilful use of social media.

Young and determined, he seems like the perfect candidate. And indeed, the polls give him as the favourite.

Now we can only hope with confidence that Bucharest, too, will become a full member of the conservative governments of Europe, adding another important building block for the reconstruction of the West.

We can say that the election campaign has only just begun, but the mobilisation is already strong and the polls give you as the favourite. How did you manage to gain so much support in such a short time?

Simply by telling the truth. By telling the truth. Because what we say, and what we said for example during the pandemic, or about the energy and political crisis in Romania, turned out to be all true. We are defined by the mainstream media as ‘populists’. And it is true, we are, if that means being in touch with the people, and on their side.

In all this, how influential do you think your ability to communicate through social media is?

Without social media I wouldn’t be in politics. I think social media is the most direct way to communicate with people, without necessarily having to invest millions and millions in TV stations. And there we can’t tell lies, because the public can then tell if we are lying or not. That is also why we can say that we really are the voice of the people. And that is precisely why I am tackling this election campaign in the name and on behalf of the reasons of the people.

What is the main point of your electoral programme that you focus on in order to bring ‘democracy and transparency’ back to Romania, as you yourself stated?

I want to bring back normality and common sense, along with democracy and freedom. I would not be here if someone had not obstructed the previous elections, cancelling them all of a sudden. After Georgescu was eliminated from the race, he asked me to enter the game. It was the only possible solution to hope to rebuild the country. So, here I am.

You are also a member of the European Conservative group. In the event of victory, what would you bring that is truly ‘conservative’ to your country?

I want to make sure that the woke ideology and everything to do with the so-called Soros Agenda does not continue to proliferate. In Romania we can say that we are conservative from a social point of view. We want the family to choose how to educate their children, and not for the state to impose some predefined vision on them. We are very concerned that our children may grow up being inculcated with LGBTQI+ ideology.
This has fortunately been stopped in the United States thanks to President Donald Trump, who reaffirmed that there are only two genders: female and male. And we are not talking about anything here that is not true. It is biology, nothing more, nothing less. And we will do the same in Europe.
Another important issue for us is the family, the natural family, which we consider the pillar of society. That is why we will focus on effective population policies.

From a foreign policy perspective, you stated today that an armed solution in Ukraine is not a solution. In your opinion, what is the best way forward for a just and lasting peace?

This hypothesis will lead to nothing, but will only cause even more deaths among the civilian population. What is needed now is a de-escalation of hostilities, a ceasefire and commitment on both sides to make this happen. And it is crucial that security guarantees for the peoples involved really are built. Because what has been done so far has unfortunately not worked at all.

Finally, if you had to define your experience so far, which adjective would you choose?

Challenging and energetic. I believe that the most important thing is to think about the future of Romania, and of the whole of Europe in general, with the knowledge that we have to work 24 hours a day to succeed and give the people back a new and strong society.

I am young, and I am confident that we will be able to restore Europe to its original glory. In this sense, we look a lot at Italy, which is a great nation and a true model for us to look up to.
In order to restore hope and confidence to everyone, we need to work harder and harder, and not fight against each other. Only then can we truly succeed and rebuild that European and Western greatness.
