Extreme left in Romania has once again shown its true colors. Following the participation of AUR president George Simion at the Free Speech Festival in London, the largest event dedicated to freedom, rights, and sovereignty ever organized in the British capital, he was the target of a wave of hateful threats on social media.
Those who claim to be “defenders of democracy” ended up celebrating death. They wrote, without a shred of shame, that George Simion should “suffer the same fate as Charlie Kirk”, the American pro-freedom activist who was killed in cold blood a few days ago. There were individuals who spoke of snipers, who said “God forbid” or simply called for the physical elimination of a political leader elected by over five million Romanians.
These individuals, who rejoice in the murder of a 31-year-old father of two, would be ecstatic if George Simion suffered the same fate, if every sovereignist leader in Europe were silenced, as if in a plan of political purging in which inconvenient voices are eliminated one by one. We are facing a spiritual war: good against evil, freedom against silence imposed by fear.
AUR has filed a criminal complaint against all those who incited hatred and violence. We will not accept Romania becoming a place where freedom of expression is paid for with one’s life. We call on the authorities to do their duty, to investigate these criminal incitements and to send a clear signal: in Romania in 2025, people do not die for their political ideas. Threats, regardless of whom they are directed at, are serious offences that are punishable under criminal law.
In the name of freedom, democracy, and those who believe in God and the sovereignty of the Romanian people, we will see this through to the end. Because there is no middle ground between light and darkness.
