Trump launches attack on Iran: three nuclear sites hit with US B-2s

The night of 21 June 2025 will enter the history books. The United States, with President Donald Trump live from the White House, confirmed a military strike on three strategic targets of Iran’s nuclear programme: Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan. The operation, described by Trump as ‘a historic success’, saw the use of B-2 stealth bombers and the extremely powerful 13,600 kg GBU-57 penetrating bombs, capable of destroying underground structures more than 60 metres deep.

The military action took place in full coordination with Israel, which had been hammering Iranian defences for days. Now, with the direct intervention of the United States, the scenario evolves dramatically. Present in the Situation Room were, among others, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The front line widens: evacuations, blackouts and diplomatic tensionsIn response to the attacks, Iran activated air defences in several provinces and confirmed explosions near Qom and Khuzestan. The government in Tehran also blacked out the Internet nationwide again, leaving the population isolated in one of the most disturbing nights in decades.

Meanwhile, the US allies begin to evacuate. The German embassy in Teheran was closed, diplomats withdrawn. Italy also organised a second airlift via Baku to bring Italian citizens home.

Trump’s message: ‘Now Iran signs peace’The US president chose strong tones: ‘This is a historic moment for the United States, for Israel and for the world. Iran must now agree to end this war’. The reactions were not long in coming: applause from Republican senators and even from Democrat John Fetterman. But there was no shortage of critical voices: Thomas Massie, a libertarian MP, denounced the attack as unconstitutional.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guardians declared: ‘Now the war has begun’.

The US-Israeli operation aims to permanently disrupt Tehran’s nuclear infrastructure, which is deemed an intolerable threat. Fordow, in particular, is considered the most critical site, dug deep into the mountain and under strong suspicion by the IAEA for advanced uranium enrichment.According to military sources, only US forces have the technology to penetrate bunkers of such strength, thanks to B-2 bombers and GBU-57 bombs.

The game of alliances: who is with whom

Saudi Arabia condemns ‘Israeli aggression’ but not the US attack. Egypt rejects escalation and calls for negotiations. Macron says he is ‘deeply concerned’ but calls on Tehran to guarantee the peaceful nature of its atomic programme. Erdogan offers mediation between the US and Iran.

We said it

In the last few hours we anticipated that the scenario was ready to explode. And punctually it has happened. The American attack was preceded by clear signals: the escalation of Israeli attacks, the blackouts in Iran, the movement of American bombers from Missouri towards Guam.

He who had eyes to see, saw.
