Giorgia Meloni, with her concluding speech last Sunday, closed one of the most attended editions of Atreju, not only by political figures, from Fratelli d’Italia, the center-right, and opponents, and by journalists and television personalities, but by ordinary people, by the public. Even after the Prime Minister’s speech and the substantial end of the various discussion panels, many people stayed on Sunday to stroll until evening among the wooden houses of the Atreju village, which from December 6 to 14 hosted entities from the Italian conservative world, like our Voce del Patriota, good typical food from different parts of Italy, and Christmas items, given the proximity to Christmas. The writer was there, stayed last Sunday until the end, and saw all this with their own eyes. The goal, which is not wrong to call the “mass conservative party,” a force with a precise identity that is able to speak to the entire Nation, all social classes, all productive categories, and all ages, can be considered largely achieved, as evidenced by the over 100,000 attendees, individuals, families, young and old, in the picturesque gardens of Castel Sant’Angelo.
A heterogeneous and widespread Italy shares what has been done so far by the Meloni Government and expects much more from a leader and the ruling class that supports her, who, even before entering Palazzo Chigi, set themselves the task of pursuing the evolution of the Italian right, of Fratelli d’Italia, and of achieving the goal of a conservative and patriotic party with a majority vocation. The popular consensus that ranges from stability to growth and the many Italians who decided to see Atreju 2025 live, say that the goal has already been achieved, but, as Giorgia Meloni stated at Castel Sant’Angelo, one must never stop looking to the future and daring. “We are not an accident of History, we are a community of destinies built brick by brick in thirty years of History,” these, among the most significant words of the Prime Minister’s speech, who also added: “We are the architects of our destiny.” Indeed, Giorgia Meloni has instilled in the Italian right community the mentality of never being satisfied, even when one is in the majority and the votes are there, to avoid feeling arrived and living off the success, but to continue building, to keep imagining the future and maintain the courage to dare the undareable.
The constant and patient thirty-year laying of bricks, in the evolutionary path of the right and Fratelli d’Italia, has given life to the conservative party of Italians, but the work does not stop here and it is good that one does not want to bask only in the present because, as has happened to some leaderships and political realities, the moment one feels accomplished and no longer forced to particular efforts, begins, silent and creeping, the decline. However, the Prime Minister warned the political community gathered at Atreju never to forget where they come from because without roots there is no future and, in the crucial process of evolution in perpetual motion, one risks landing in the wrong places and becoming gray, impure, devoid of identity. Closing Atreju, Giorgia Meloni could not help but claim all the achievements of the Government, those now definitive and those put in the pipeline that will be completed by the end of the legislature, and reaffirm what conservatives are not and will never be.
Those who govern the Nation today are on the side of legality and the men in uniform, who risk their lives every day for all of us and to whom the Government has finally granted greater protections through the Security decree. Therefore, the right can never have sympathy for a character like Ilaria Salis, the far-left thug who, besides escaping her criminal responsibilities with a well-paid seat in Strasbourg, still has the audacity to exalt illegal house occupations, which are fortunately subject to a crackdown, thanks again to the Security decree. Nor can there be respect for Francesca Albanese, the pro-Hamas speaker who justified the Pro-Pal intrusion at the newspaper La Stampa as a warning journalists should heed. A warning for what? To try to be careful not to write too well about Israel and too badly about Hamas, otherwise the violent devastation of their headquarters is deserved? Conservatives will always detest those who threaten freedom of the press and speech. The invitation of Abu Mazen to Atreju, the Prime Minister clarified, silenced all those who poured shameful accusations on the Meloni Government during the months of the war in the Gaza Strip, namely, the genocide, admitted and not conceded that Israel committed such a crime, approved by Italy and the blood-stained hands of the Prime Minister.
The presence in Rome, at Castel Sant’Angelo, of the President of the Palestinian National Authority, allowed for a better understanding of Italian policy in the Middle East, which is very balanced between the sacred defense of the security of the Jewish State, the fight against terrorism like that of Hamas, and the need to prioritize peace through two peoples and two states living side by side. Conservatives defend the identity of the West wherever they are in the world and with whomever they have the opportunity to speak, including those countries based on cultures different from the Western one, but not hostile and also willing to make advantageous economic agreements. The conservative does not trade their DNA for money and Prime Minister Meloni rightly recalled the visits to the Gulf countries where she presented herself without reverential fear and above all, unlike some well-known left-wing women, without a veil, and urged the interlocutors to do their part in combating the main problem of the Islamic world, namely, armed fundamentalism. The Prime Minister reiterated at Atreju the value of this Government’s pro-Italian foreign policy, which has brought Rome back to the center, in Europe and overseas.
The dialogue between the United States of America and the European Union passes through Italy and more and more European countries are understanding how necessary it is for the national armies of the Old Continent to be more engaged in NATO in order to represent its second leg and not outsource security and Defense to others. Thanks to the work of Italy and the European conservatives of ECR, the continental group to which Fratelli d’Italia adheres, this EU, certainly still full of defects, is changing its approach to the follies contained in the Green Deal and regarding the fight against illegal immigration. In Brussels, with a significant decision, a favorable opinion was given to hubs built in third countries dedicated to the reception and control of illegal arrivals directed to Europe. In practice, the green light was given to structures like the centers set up by Italy in Albania, which will come into full operation, the Prime Minister could not help but denounce, a year and a half after their creation only due to the political boycott of some Judges, eager to do a favor to Elly Schlein.
The Meloni Government and the conservatives act for a modern Nation with reforms, (Justice, premiership, Differentiated Autonomy), not out of hatred towards anyone in particular, but to eliminate the old encrustations that have long limited Italy in the West, from the chronic instability of governments to the political use of the Courts. The Government, let the pessimists resign themselves, will last until the end of the legislature, but even more so will the renewed Institutions, usable by the entire political spectrum and certainly not only by Fratelli d’Italia. The first three years of Giorgia Meloni have seen attention to the productive world because a modern Nation seeks the well-being of its families and businesses, even if there is still much to do, the Prime Minister is fully aware, due to decades of fiscal voracity and pauperism rooted by the left and trade unionists like Maurizio Landini, the accomplice of five-euro hourly work contracts, who is, fortunately, ignored by Italians given the low participation obtained by the political strike of December 12th. The right is on the right side of History, while the left remains with self-inflicted misfortune and anti-Italian resentment that does not allow them to rejoice even for the promotion of Italian cuisine as UNESCO heritage.
